For Durango, review the power/ground and VSIM sections together. The guide identifies battery arrangements under the passenger seat and notes that stop/start-equipped V6 models have different battery roles. Its signal-wire guidance calls for appropriate isolation/high-impedance connections. Treat a VSIM signal as a control input to suitable equipment, not automatically as a power feed. Durango guide ↗.

Read signal polarity and maximum current, not just wire color. Practical installation tips
- Separate the power circuit from its trigger. Battery power, ignition sense, park detection and door-ajar signals have different jobs. Follow the OEM interface table and accessory manual rather than using an available wire because it changes voltage. Durango ↗, Motorola ↗.
- Plan current draw and cable length together. Size the complete power and return path, provide circuit protection appropriate to the conductor and load, and check voltage drop while equipment operates. Do not select fuse size from the accessory's name alone. GM electrical practices ↗.
- Use the vehicle's specified grounding points. A convenient seat bolt is not automatically an electrical ground. Account for sensitive electronics and battery monitoring when choosing the return path. Resolve conflicts between a generic accessory diagram and current vehicle instructions before wiring. - Match the integration harness and software to the vehicle. Whelen lists different PIU kits according to year and factory option 61B, and different cables for controller families. A connector that physically fits does not establish support. Whelen Core ↗.
- Treat delayed shutdown as a configuration to test. Confirm what remains powered after key-off, whether it survives starting, and whether it shuts down at the intended time. ChargeGuard documents separate sensing modes; choose the supported mode for that vehicle. ChargeGuard ↗.
- Mock up mounts before drilling. Check both sides for vehicle systems, protect penetrations, and keep equipment and cables out of airbag deployment paths. Allow wiring access for service. Federal Signal ↗, Gamber-Johnson ↗.
- Account for moving equipment. A sliding tray is not appropriate for every module: SoundOff's Connect instructions require a stationary mounting position and specified orientation for its accelerometer. Connect instructions ↗.
- Validate vehicle functions after installation. Check horn, original lighting and safety functions as well as the added equipment. For a fleet acceptance sheet, also record measured load/voltage, timer behavior, configuration version and connection photographs. They can help identify terminology and symptoms, but no forum pinout was adopted as verified installation guidance here. OEM bulletins and exact equipment instructions should resolve conflicting advice.

This is a curated source library, not a claim that every wiring diagram on the internet has been collected. Links point to source documents rather than republished copies. Search results, document titles, selected technical sections and manufacturer download listings were checked; every page of every manual was not reviewed. Ford download links were verified in its live publication listing; its PDF endpoints could not be parsed by the web reader. Exact vehicle/VIN, package, build date, powertrain and installed equipment still determine applicability. No universal pinout or wire-color chart should be applied across these vehicles.
Keep three references for each build: the correct OEM police modifier/upfitter guide, the vehicle's service electrical information, and the exact equipment manufacturer's installation manual. Record document revision dates and equipment part numbers. A newer publication upload date does not change the model year printed on a guide.
Complete vehicle service wiring may require paid access. Motorcraft ↗ explicitly lists wiring/service resources. ACDelco TDS ↗ and TechAuthority ↗ were located, but their subscription contents and specific VIN coverage were not verified through login or purchase. No accounts, subscriptions or equipment were purchased, and no manufacturer was contacted.
For a specific installation, narrow this library to the VIN/model year, police package, powertrain, controller model, radio model and desired function before selecting terminals, wire sizes or protection values.
